There’s a new way to win sweepstakes in 2009. Twitter. That’s right folks, start Twittering.
My daughter won a sweepstakes while Twittering. The prize is a trip to Los, Angeles, CA. And of all places….. a party at the Playboy Mansion. She asked me to go, but I passed. She’s taking her boyfriend. Somehow I’m sure he’ll appreciate it more than I. I think I’d go to the Playboy Mansion and feel FAT, standing around all those skinny girls.
So….how did she do it? A company she was following on Twitter was giving away the LA trip. They asked followers to post a specific message about their company. So she posted a message on Twitter like they asked. Then they randomly picked a winner from the requested posts and my daughter’s post was picked. They contacted her via email (thru her profile page on Twitter). How easy is that!
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enabling users to send and read each others’ updates, known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters, displayed on the author’s profile page and delivered to other users – known as followers – who have subscribed to them. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access. Users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, Short Message Service (SMS) or external applications. Beware: although Twitter is free, you may incur phone service provider fees.
